Baby's Breath never looks so beautiful!

Samantha and Fernando Arizmendi were an amazing couple. When we say amazing what we mean is that if we could clone them and use them as examples of what a wedding couple should and could be, we would. Every Bride and Groom has obstacles when prepping for their wedding but these two were tested throughout the process.
Samantha turned a horrible leg incident into a bedazzled moment when instead of letting a cast get in her way, she used it to create a glam moment by gluing thousands of rhinestones to her bridal cast. How many Brides can say that got to wear a sparkled leg cast under there dress!
As if that wasn't enough, our wonderful California weather decided to pick 1 out of it's like 2 actual rainy days to occur on her Wedding. Clouds, thunder and panicked vendors 30 minutes before the ceremony rushed to push through and try to create her outdoor wonderland wedding. Talk about BRAVE. We crossed our fingers and set up as fast as possible to try and create this dream outdoor wedding. Thank goodness for the Bride and Groom's desire to share in this special day regardless of rain or shine. The rain....it stayed at bay until the Ceremony was over and then that day, it let loose and poured.
When Samantha approached us and said she wanted to utilize baby’s breath, I have to admit that I cringed. Not only is it not something I don’t use it’s something I associate with the 80’s and let’s face it….I lived that already and I have no intent to go back to those days. Let’s just say my Hot pink and Black LA Gears are packed away, never to be found. After I had the chance to meet and talk about the reasons behind the floral choice did my wheels start to turn. Afterall, our philosophy is “more is more” so what if we applied this theory to Baby’s Breath to turn this wedding out? That is exactly what we did. Over 100 bunches of Baby’s Breath was used to create 13 Tall Centerpieces and Ceremony décor. 11 Short centerpieces filled with Fluffy White Hydrangea and Roses were tucked inside Gold Pedestal bowls.
Luckily our Bride was not only Brave but original to boot. When she asked us to flare up her Elegant White and Gold wedding with some skulls, I flipped in a totally good way! We incorporated a lucky skull to the Grooms boutonniere, a skull to the Brides lace Garden Rose filled bouquet and my fav, to honor her Grandfather a special Owl to express their love. These are the details Brides forget about. Everyone is so busy copying a typewriter that was original to a bride 2 years ago and incorporating it into their wedding, instead of utilizing items that truly are UNIQUE to them.
It really was an immense pleasure being part of the Arizmendi’s wedding. I wish them both a lifetime of happiness filled special details throughout!

To say that we are behind is well...well, its pretty dang obvious! Do you want to hear our excuses? ok, good here are a few: it was the holiday, we were adjusting to life with 2 kids, we were slammed with weddings and events. Should I keep going or is your little violin getting tired of playing?!
The good news is that soon on the blog is an adorable Wedding we did a few months ago that will put a smile on your face. Take a glimpse of this wedding with our adorable Bride Simone and her now Hubby Chris. When I heard Tiffany Blue was gonna be used....ummm yeah, count me in! Simone is one of those girls that even though you've never met before, you feel like you've known forever. She radiates kindness that you can totally see. Ok....I have been itching to show this Wedding! Not only because there are beyond hundreds of pics to share or because the details are just insane but more so because the couple captured my heart!!!! That is not nearly enough exclamation points to describe my excitement for how much I adore this couple.
I get the privilege to work with amazing couples all the time and I truly begin to care deeply for them and about how great there wedding day goes. I think each couple holds a different spot in my memory and each engrave a spot for different reasons.
For me to explain how happy this couple Samantha and Davy made me and my team would be impossible. It makes me even happier to know that soon both will be graduating with their perspective Doctoral degrees. To know that there will be such caring and sweet Dr's in this world fills me with such hope for the future!
I know that the future holds something great for these two and I am so touched they choose us to be part of their amazing day.
Huge thanks go out to the "always on top of her game" Caroline with www.serenityevents.com. Again Caroline and her team made the event flawless and with 300 guests, 2 religious ceremonies and a slew of details to pull together. Adore that girl!
Sam Lim with www.samlimstudios.com captured the insane photos. How he manages to capture so much detail with all the chaos going on just shows how great he and his entire crew are.
I can say now that being 7 months pregnant while setting up for this wedding was nothing short of tiring....I was still so elated to see everything come together that I totally forgot about the little person kicking my insides ;o) For me to go over all the florals that went into this wedding would take hours...so to sum it up: Thousands of Orchids and hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of Roses.

Stefanie Jass recently graduated from California State University Long Beach after receiving her Bachelors Degree from the department of Health and Human Services with an emphasis in Event Coordinating. Stefanie was born and raised in beautiful Ventura,California. She was attracted to CSULB by their nationally ranked cheerleading team, on which she competed for two years. In her college years Stefanie was an extremely active member within her
sorority Alpha Phi, serving as Vice President for two years. Planning social and recruitment events is where her passion for event coordinating really took off. Stefanie dreams of becoming a successful wedding planner. She believes her drive to succeed, attention to detail, caring and outgoing personality will lead her to the top.

Being a few weeks away from having my 2nd child and it being Father's Day, it got me thinking about how even though I have been on this earth for 30 years......I still feel the same about my Father as I did when I was a little girl:

I still go to him for all my important decisions

I call or go see him every few days just to hear his calming voice

I ask for his approval and advise on almost everything

I know that he will always have the inside scoop on where to eat some chow

I know that he always has my best interests at heart

He will never judge me for the decisions I make

That he to this day is still my hero!

To my amazing Husband who is going to be the Father of my two most precious gifts:

You astonish me everyday with how easy you make being a Father look. You work so hard and even though you have so much going on, it never seems like your tank runs empty for your family. We are blessed to have you in our lives and thank God everyday for you....our gift!

P.S. You know you love the pic above!!!! This is our first Halloween with my little son. I thought it would be funny to dress him up like his dad ;o) The humor was not lost on anyone...teeheee

While this is perfectly normal and natural...Allison wanted to rock her wedding by the beach in Glam style. I love when brides buck traditional decor and opt for something beautiful but inspired.

Being a Mother of an 18 month old and soon to be 2nd child, Mother's day is a day where I can thank my Mother who gives until she has nothing else to give! She is an example of what kindness, compassion, intelligence, love and a die hard attitude can be combined into one human being. I adore you Mom and thank you for every wonderful moment you have given me.

To my Mother in Law; other than giving birth to the most amazing man, you have become someone I come to for guidance and friendship. My only wish is that I could have had you in my life more than 12 years ago! I look forward to building an even stronger bond with you.

We Care Charity Gala

We Care (http://www.wecarelosalamitos.org/) is an amazing non-profit charity in Los Alamitos, CA. When we received a call in December about being part of their Gala again for 2011, we jumped at the chance. Not only did we love being part of an amazing program but staying to enjoy the yummy food (10 different restaurants) and bidding on a shopping spree to South Coast didn't make it to hard to say yes ;o) Special thanks to Maria Leavenworth for not only helping with final details but for being my beautiful date due to my husbands unexpected work travel.

P.S. no, I didn't win the super awesome shopping spree........dang you!

Ok so while I have tons to blog right now, I am going to take a small detour and let you into the life of me a little more. I do love the girls who devote their hearts to this business but this post is gonna be purely about me and my hubby and well....something else.

Today March 15th is my 3 year Anniversary to the worlds most amazing man! Don't hate people....I snagged him and am smart enough to know not to let this one go. We have been together for 12 years as a couple and while I am beyond excited to be celebrating our "3" year wedding anniversary, I must be truthful and say that I am more touched by the fact that our love has endured 12 years together! To my husband: for me to say that you are my everything in life would be an understatement. You are the reason I breathe, the reason I wake up in the morning and being with you has forever changed me as a person.

Dropping the bomb in....5-4-3-2-1........I have turned down 15 Brides this year for the months of July-August and I think it's time to come clean! I felt funny telling people at first that I just couldn't do their wedding but now that we feel more comfortable, I think it's time to spill the beans. We have been blessed with another addition to our already amazing family! That's right peeps I am pregnant with our second child. I can't begin to say how excited we are and how great everyone has been during these last 5 months! We are due in early July and have booked Weddings until June. During my maternity leave we will be doing bridal showers, baby showers, photoshoots, etc. just no weddings. We will resume Weddings again in September and have 1 last weekend available. Because I am a mom and I gotta post a pic.....how amazing is this?!

If you follow the blog, which I hope you do; you will know my thoughts and feelings on the color Pink. When we were asked to create a Pink piece for a Country Club I was curious as to how I would feel about it after I saw the finished product. After all was said and done...I loved it!

As my husband helped me load the piece he mentioned that this was the most "normal" piece he has ever seen us do. thanks babe?!

I am not sure where Carnations started getting such a bad stigma? Is it because they are less expensive? Is it because people don't want other people to think they used a less expensive flower?

I myself don't hate carnations. In fact, I prefer them over tons of greens! They are great color fillers, hearty as no other and when bunched together give the illusion of flowers that I doubt most would ever know what to call out.

I guess this is a personal choice and mine is filler of Carnations over a filler of Greens.

Event Planners/Coordinators

While this post is going to have some visual candy for you....

I wanted to just put in my two cents about Event Planners/Coordinators. There have been few weddings we have ever done that didn't involve the talent and detail that a only a Planner can provide. I understand that when planning your wedding, the thought of "planning" your entire wedding was what you envisioned but I encourage EVERY bride to meet with a Planner about their services. When you sit down and really speak about what they do to ensure your dream day....you will find that they become as priceless as the guests themselves!

2011 New Year New Blog

So I know we have been MIA lately and my excuses are a-plenty: a bout of Pneumonia, a death in the family, awesome increase in Weddings and just plain laziness! 2011 brings a packed Wedding schedule, photoshoots, shows, a magazine appearance and proposal craziness. Now don't get me wrong, I love all the opportunities but when you are a crazed perfectionist......you tend to get in the way of yourself.

When I say perfectionist what I really mean to say is that I am Anal Retentive. I hang clothes in the closet via color and article of clothing, I squeeky clean the dishes before putting them in the dishwasher and if you could see my home....well.....here is a pic of my living room. It looks like this all the time, when I say all time, I am not lying. My husband will move something just to see if I notice, which I do and move back...after I hit him of course ;o)

Elegant Estate

Carla gave us creative freedom to do our thing and like I have said before; I flippin love when a Bride trusts us to create something beautiful.

End of the year rush.....

As the year is coming to a close we have been seeing an increase in events where traditionally the holiday seasons start to kick in. This has not been the case for us recently. Last week alone we had 2 events and had the pleasure of speaking at the Association of Certified Wedding Consultants at the Belmar Hotel about floral trends for 2011.

To the ladies we met on Friday: such a pleasure and sorry if I babbled on and on......I tend to do that sometimes ;o)

Halloween

I hope everyone had a safe and wonderful Halloween filled with tricks and lots of treats! We have a very busy week ahead but I couldn't help post a pick of the cutest little Saint Bernard ever....yeah, it's my kid....that's how I roll.
Now I am off to finish a proposal, complete a PowerPoint presentation for a speech on Friday, call in a floral order and finish gluing little crystals on a vessel. Oh, and I have to go hide all the Halloween candy......from my husband!!!

Proposals and Illustrations......A mini rant.

So, I just got off the phone with a lovely Bride that we had a face to face consultation with last week, let's call her Bride X for fun. X asks me "how much time could we actually spend on proposals/Illustrations and why other florists she has met with did not make her wait for Illustrations and a formal proposal"? Really, she said she didn't have to wait cause she didn't actually get any Illustrations or proposals at all. Now, I am not here to say every Florist or Event Designer should do this but we do and it's part of OUR process.

Illustrations serve the Bride not us. We want to be able to give you a vision of what we discussed and a snippet of what could be, instead of trying to make you imagine what we are trying to tell you. Don't get me wrong......we have faith you know what you want, we are just trying to bring that vision to life! This take hours...no lie....hours to create. As far as the formal proposal....ummmm you should get at the VERY least a contract. If not, well I wouldn't buy anything without one that's just our take ;o)

It begs the question: don't Brides just take the Illustrations and shop them around to other Florists? unfortunately, they do and it's part of life. It's hard when we know another Florist "replicates" work based on these drawings but we won't let a couple bad apples ruin a nice thing we do for our brides! Besides, if another vendor is willing to "replicate" another Designers vision I worry about what that Designers real talent is without our drawings to help them.

Wow, what I can say about this wedding? Well, actually I can say allot. Here's how it all went down: Awesome Wedding Planner Caroline (http://www.serenityevents.com) calls me and says she has a Bride flying into Orange County airport in 3 days, she needs a florist and the wedding date. I meet the Bride Ganga and was immediately set into creative mode. Ganga says that she would like deep Reds and Burgundy.........that's it! No pictures, no suggestions. She gives us total and utter creative freedom to come up with concepts.

Ganga's wedding had flowers everywhere. Total floral totals: over 3,400 Roses, 500+ Orchids and 300+ candles...just to name a few. Much love to my crew on this one!

You know how you meet someone and there isn't an awkward moment or a pause of uncomfortable silence regardless of the fact that you have never met the person? You kind of just click.......When we met Alma we knew she was just gonna be one of those Brides you can't do enough for! When cloning becomes run of the mill, I am gonna push Brides like Alma in the little cloning machine so I can have every Bride like her. And yes, I just said I was gonna push a Bride into a cloning machine.

Now before you think I am nuts by sending a little birthday wish out to a 1 year old....hold tight....it gets better. When you have a mom who is a floral designer and let's face it a lover of all things party, you get a combo of the pics below. I am fully aware that I might have gone a tad bit overboard with the party of 70 for a child's birthday but hey we all have our weird little issues. Over the top just happens to be mine ;o)

This post comes from a wedding a couple months ago that had my heart from the moment I met the Groom's Mother. Long awesome story short: Groom's Mother is helping plan the entire wedding due to her son serving our country. Bride and Groom will see each other a couple days before the wedding after an extremely long duty. Shortly after the wedding, Groom will return to serve another year where he will return home and the couple will be reunited.

I can't make this stuff up people.....

The amazing Courtney with www.dreameventsbycourtney.com is the best! She seriously gets our humor and although she won't admit.......she loves when I break out the running man! Courtney is on it at weddings and we just love working with a planner who knows her stuff.

An amazing Anniversery Surprise

I received an email a while ago....not from a Bride, not from a Groom, not a Mother or a Planner but from a Husband. His request was to give his wife an Anniversary floral explosion installation inside their home. He sent me pictures of their original wedding flowers and we agreed on some colors for a new (not improved, just revised) design. He trusted me and let us just create. I can't tell you how refreshing it is to have someone just tell you a color scheme and trust you to create something amazing.

To this Husband; I know how much flowers means to your wife and how amazing you are to have gone thru so much trouble to make sure your anniversary was a wonderful day. Your special surprise is an example of how to continue that flame long after your wedding day!

Gerbera Daisies......

I don't want to ruffle any feathers....but I am not a huge fan of Gerbera Daisies. When I met with my Bride Ashley who was so super sweet, seriously like Pixie Stik sweet, I asked her why Daisies? To which she so quickly replied, "they make you smile".

Ashley, you were 100% right! We smiled the entire time we had your flowers and if anyone asks me in the future; why Gerbera Daisies...I will simply reply: "cause they make you smile".

Thanks for being such a great Bride and for reminding me to just smile.

I am behind on the blog so much right now. I really do feel awful about it and will have more to post soon. If you're familiar with how the industry works; I can't really blog about weddings if they are being submitted to publications, etc....so sometimes that leaves me not being able to post. Really.....I am Daddy's little girl. Not really little in size anymore but still his princess if that makes any sense. He is still the man I look up to and he is still the man I know that no matter what I do in life, he will stand beside me.....cheering me on. Today is a first for me. Well if you want to get technical about it "technically" I was pregnant this time last year with my son, so really I guess it's my 2nd time celebrating Mother's day.

I approach Mother's day today the same as I have every other Mother's day. With Love and sincere appreciation for every Mother. I am blessed to have an AMAZING Mother who supports me and provided me with enough love to be able to share with others. I am also blessed with a WONDERFUL Mother-in-law whom I can honestly say I respect and cherish. Both have made influential impacts in my life today and I can only hope that I can give my son the same.

I love you both!

This week has been pretty relaxed. I had a lovely gab-fest lunch with the fab ladies at The Griffith House in Anaheim (shout out to Myra and Ramina). Had a nice evening at an Executive Woman's meeting and had some conversations with potential Brides.

When I say some, I mean 5. In particular 3 Brides calling me about August weddings....it's not really that weird I guess. The bad part was..that I had to turn them away. I really didn't want to but I am already booked! To the Brides I spoke with; if you're reading this....I am super bummed but the company that I suggested is really awesome and I totally trust her. Seriously, she has a wonderful "spirit" about her ;o}

Side Note: I only do 1 wedding a week and only 2-3 weddings a month. I always try to keep at least 1 weekend for the family...cause really, isn't that what it's all about?!

Ok, so I know I shouldn't say that I love or hate any flowers...cause really, I should love them all. Right?
I have to admit that I have a love/hate relationship with Pink flowers. In one hand, I am a total girly girl. I love makeup, high heals and jewelry (what girl doesn't). But on the other, I adore competitive sports, I would rather rock jeans then a skirt and I really hate doing my hair. So Pink appeals to my Princess side but also doesn't at the same time. Does that make sense?

In the long run....I guess it's just about what works and what doesn't. Hopefully the pictures below work, cause I had fun creating them!

We Care Fundraiser

This weekend we had the pleasure of providing the floral decor for an amazing cause. I want to start off by saying that I think charity is a wonderful thing. I don't want this post to be about how everyone should do charitable things in their life and about how great it is to do them. Plain and simple, if it's in your heart and you have the resources to help out others.....I believe you should. Entwined Design had the resources and our hearts wanted to give.

We Care is a non-profit organization that pools the resources of local communities to meet the emergency needs of families. We Care provides year round emergency services, holiday assistance, hot meals, counseling and healthcare services. What spoke to me was that there was a strong focus on families and that We Care provides assistance to my local community here in Seal Beach. Yeah for my peeps in SB!

There were so many companies and local community members that attended this event and all I can do is applaud you on your contributions and efforts. Huge thanks go out to the following: Matthew Gerlach, Maria Leavenworth, Erika Ibbetson-White, Kelsey White, Brian White, Marty Thompson, Rob Lowenberg, Laurie Pintar, Diane Hassel, John Low, Larry Braun and Chrysteen Braun.

The only negative of the entire night?....not winning the Angeles baseball season tickets during the live Auction :o{ ha, ha...it's better anyways, My husband is a dodgers fan ;o{

The silent auction tables were set up with 6ft. manzanita trees adorned with Yellow Tulips, Voodoo Roses, Red Gerber Daises, Seeded Eucalyptus, Similax, Lemon Leaves and hanging Purple butterflies.

I always talk about a focal point and here is an example of what I mean. If you look at this tree and think it looks familiar....it should, I drew you a sample of what I wanted it to look like in posts below.
There were 20 centerpieces total under the tents and each one had it's own personality.

The table linens were all different shades of spring to match the centerpieces.

The bar (there were actually 3 bars...you can never have too many bars).

Here's a shot of the food area. There was so much good food....Fish Company and Naples Rib Company just to name a few .....yummy.

Attendance was so inspiring.......there were so many people who attended the fundraiser.

Such a great turnout for such a great event...I couldn't be happier for We Care.

I am turning another year older and seriously, it's just not that big of a deal. I have decided to have a low key birthday celebration. Just the Hubby, my Son and the Rents to dinner. I am gonna pig out on every carb, sugar, high in fat and salty food there is within a 4ft. radius.

My apologies to the Bride I am meeting with this morning...I am not eating for a couple days so that I can gorge myself tonight at my birthday dinner...please ignore my grumbling tummy during our meeting ;o}

I get asked quite frequently what the flowers at my wedding looked like, so I decided to duel purpose this post. You get to see my wedding and I get to re-live it on my Anniversary.

Matthew: These last 11 years together have been such an adventure. I love you for everything you are: a loving Husband, an amazing Father, a confidant, a very patient man and my best Friend! Happy 2 year wedding anniversary..I hope I give you the 100% you deserve.

The Wedding: I was one of those brides that dreamt of my wedding day and very specifically planned out the entire event start to finish. The theme: Audrey and yes Tiffany's was the overall appeal. Why you ask: growing up I wanted to be Miss Golightly, I wanted to never grow up, to name my cat "cat" so I couldn't get hurt and to pretend like nothing in life ever bothered me and that all I would do all day is go to lavish parties and be oh so sophisticated. Ahhhh, youth.

All the centerpieces were 5-6ft high Manzanita trees. Each centerpiece was adorned with White Akito roses and approximately 100 hand strung Swarovski Crystals on each tree. This process took months of work!

Look at my cute little Audrey's...and my tasty, tasty cake.

This Manzanita Tree was actually 10 ft. high and stood as the focal point during the separate cocktail hour. All the guests circled around this piece while having hors d'oeuvres and cocktails.

Here's a good shoot of all the centerpieces with the pinspotting. Quite a bit of Brides overlook lighting and as you can see via this photo, it really enhances the overall look.

Spring Mock-up

Yesterday we created a mock-up for a Charity event coming up in a couple weeks. The centerpieces consist of Huckleberry greens, Seeded Eucalyptus, Italian Ruscus, Jasmine Vine, Voodoo Roses, Burgundy Dahlias and Monte Carlo Tulips.

Is it bad that I kind of want to keep it for myself for my birthday next week?!

The Leavenworth Wedding

4 days, over 40 hours straight, over 3,000 roses, 185 orchid stems, a random rented home in the hills and one amazing wedding! I have more then a couple things and people that I want to address, some because I think they deserve the praise and others because I soooo owe them.

Jen, Derek, April, Robert, Kimberly: You know that I love you and I trust you with my life. Thank you for all your hard work, for letting me bark orders at you and for being the best friends a girl could have.

I am the first to admit that stationary is not my thing....I created them to show her an "example" of what they could look like and Kristen ended up using the exact sample.

Quickie Post

Hi all, this is gonna be a quickie post as I am getting ready to leave for a wedding next weekend. Since Kristen's wedding is fast approaching I decided to do a flashback (queue awesome 80's remix). The wedding below is of Kristen's BFF in the whole wide world. Amber is gonna be Kristen's Matron of Honour so I am sure Amber wouldn't mind a little "wedding rewind" to remind her of the flowers we did for her a couple years ago.

I so love the awful camera picture above, you can only see my head cause in real life I am only 5"2 with heals..really tall ones...maybe 5"5. Once I hit age 28 I came to the realization that I wasn't gonna grow anymore, not that I ever did the first time ;o{ Amber and Frank you are both so sweet and I really had so much fun working on your wedding. Hopefully you both can look at these and share a sweet little remembrance kiss!

Upcoming Event

I recently signed on to a project that I am honoured to be a part of. I can't tell you too many details as things are still being worked out but I wanted to show you all a sketch of an idea for the event. The event will have over 300 attendees from Orange County and the underlying theme is "Springtime under the tents".

Being that I was born on the first day of Spring, you know I love the season and my mind immediately went in thousands of different directions. The above centerpiece will be on all of the large dinning tables. Each centerpiece will have a duel purpose; one for the beauty of the table and second to be auctioned off to the highest bidder! The "Giving Tree" below is a simulated rendition of what will appear in the center of the tent as an accent piece or as a statement piece as you enter the tents. Side note for the brides out there: try to create one "knock there socks" off piece. Your guests will talk about it for years to come and it really creates a gathering place for your guests.

I am so happy to be part of this event and will post the final results next month.

Who Loves Football?!

Ok, so I totally love sports, I actually play softball and every year I get a snowboarding pass to my local mountains. I am pretty good at Softball (although my 9 broken fingers will tell you different) and I can board pretty good. If I fall off a jump I roll up super fast so nobody can see what I did. Usually it's my husband that comes over laughing that I freaked out mid jump and then proceeds to tell me a play by play of the entire event. To which I so smoothly behind my back make a snowball and quickly throw at his head to get payback.

I kinda love sports so much because I HATE exercising and I am super competitive. BUT.....I don't care for football! I watch football every Sunday with my husband and son hoping that at any moment it will be over and I can grab the remote and turn it to any of the "Housewives" shows or any other reality show for that matter......yeah, that's right....I ADORE reality shows. Oh, there not real you say...who cares, love em and love the drama. You put some of those football players in love triangles arguing about money and stealing each others girlfriends and you will totally have my heart cause watching them do that in those uniforms.....Priceless.

So to all the men out there (including you honey) I don't care about football, that is why I will be leaving the room to do quick little errands, why I will be replenishing food at the party, having a cocktail with the other wives, looking at my football pool numbers 80 times, why I will only seem interested during the commercials and halftime and why I will come running in at the last two minutes cause I love seeing winners in all their glory!

Have fun guys cause after today no more football for a while ;o}

P.S. I am totally aware that my fake blond hair is similar to the color of those yellow bows and no.. I don't normally walk around with little bows in my hair. It was a party, there was a theme.

Kristen's wedding is almost exactly one month away and during our meeting we discussed her desire to do a mock-up of her short "smaller" centerpieces. Kristen's "smaller" centerpieces are still so large (almost 2 ft.) we just had to post a little preview of this fab wedding-to-be.
These centerpieces consist of 13 fluffy white hydrangea, 24 Golden Roses, 24 Akito Roses, 2 bunches of Yellow Spray Roses, Ti Leaves and Yellow James Stori Orchids. Seriously, this is just her "smaller" centerpieces!! We can't wait to share this one with you.

Country Bridal Shower

Kristen is an up and coming bride getting married in a month at the Grand Tradition Estate in Fallbrook, California. Her shower was this past weekend and she wanted to do a completely different look from her wedding flowers. Her wedding next month: Tropical venue with chic and classic touches. Everything from the ever so popular all white Phalaenopsis Orchid Bouquet, over 2,000 Roses in various colors, James Stori Orchids and Centerpieces that tower over 5 ft! Her shower was an adorable country theme complete with full size bales of hay and BBQ meals catered by Naples Rib Company......yummy.

In the space there were these Gothic ornate chandeliers, so we decide in order to make the look cohesive we covered the arms with a combination of Oncidium Orchids (which are not traditionally country but oh so beautifully the exact bumble bee yellow color we were looking to achieve) the chandeliers were also entwined (get it, get it) with Birch Branches. Side note: Birch Branches are not very common in event design but provide a great alternative to say Curly Willow as they hang in downward angles and have these adorable pine cone textured bulbs at the ends of the branches.

For the bridesmaid tables we created one centerpiece with Seeded Eucalyptus, Sunflowers, Daises, and Ti Leaves. We then spread out moss to cover the length of the table and inserted bud vases with each floral element to make it appear as though the flowers were growing right out of the table itself.

Here is a view of the Bridesmaid table all complete with the above elements. I love the pomander balls above the Brides chair and the hanging lanterns above the Bridesmaids.

Simple centerpieces for her guest tables. We decided to have 2 different types of centerpieces throughout the venue just to break up the space. The flowers were bursting with Daises in these beautiful yellow pitchers. I can totally see myself with a wide brim hat, wearing a floral dress in the country watering my pale pink Garden Roses holding this pitcher.

The square guest tables seated less guests so we created taller centerpieces in order for there to be as much space as possible. The picture does not do these vases justice, they were this beautiful Cobalt Blue color which matched the theme perfectly. Again, simple centerpieces with Eucalyptus and Sunflowers to tie in with the Brides table.

Here's another view of the centerpieces. It's always good to think of the space and size you are designing for. Taller centerpieces with volume designed to be top heavy will weigh out the table and provide more space for your guests. Larger tables with more space would be better suited for shorter centerpieces with heavy volume to make the table seem more cozy.

Kristen's Baker did this cake and I just had to show it off as I thought it was absolutely adorable! We added some loose flowers on the stand to fill out the rest of the table. Seriously, how cute is this cake.

Simple pitcher filled with Eucalyptus, Akito and Gold Roses for one of the side tables. As I was putting this on the table you know I had to grab a card and write my personal Words of Wisdom. Being married for almost 2 years and having almost 11 years with my husband I have so many great things to share so of course I wrote something that I thought would be most useful....wanna know? Hello, I can't tell...Kristen has to read them all first!

Last wedding of 2009

When I first sat down with Valerie I knew we were gonna instantly connect. We originally spoke on the phone and once Valerie told me that she was on a tight deadline due to her fiance arriving 1-day previous to the wedding because of his Military commitments, I knew we had to really get this wedding together for her.

Valerie's wedding was during the oh so busy December month and she didn't want to go with the traditional holiday wedding. Valerie wanted to utilize Winter White with accents of Navy Blue and sprinkles of Silver. When I found out that her wedding was going to take place OUTSIDE I almost freaked out. We are in Southern California so really........it could work...right?!

The wedding took place at an awesome outdoor venue in Anaheim called The Griffith House/Chapel of Anaheim. Seriously, this place is so beautiful. There are not many outdoor venues in Orange County so it really makes the place that much more special. It was the perfect backdrop for the look she was going for.

P.S. Myra and Ramina at the facility were so helpful and are absolutely amazing to deal with.

now lets get to the eye candy.....We decided to go with variations of high and low centerpieces so that we could capture the focal points from the grass all the way to the amazing trees at the facility. The low centerpieces consisted of Lilly's, fluffy White Hydrangea and Akito Roses.

Since your choices of Silver flowers are limited...we decided to spray paint Curly Willow branches with Silver speckled floral paint.

Here's a view of the reception area once we had the high and low centerpieces set up.

Above is a great way to help assist with cost. Reuse centerpieces as Ceremony decor!

The weather cooperated (well, not the whole time) a slight wind scared us at the very end but all in all it came together wonderfully. Special thanks to Myra ( Facility Coordinator) for helping us out when the winds blew over all the centerpieces and our hearts stopped beating for a minute. Thanks again Myra!

So.....should I introduce myself? Should I tell the story of how it all started with my journey into the world of design and how this point in my life came about to the day we are in now?

Well, not exactly. Throughout this blog I will release little tidbits of myself, my craft, my passions and life's little adventures. Hopefully as you begin to follow (or not) this blog, you can find inspiration to enhance life's celebrations.

This blog will post everything from weddings, parties, corporate events, charity events, birthday parties and showers. Floral design for all events and occasions in life.
